Wat Ratcha Bophit – วัดราชบพิธสถิตมหาสีมารามราชวรวิหาร

Bangkok has hundreds of temples, and most tourists will likely visit Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha) and Wat Phra Kaew (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and Grand Palace). But did you know there is a beautiful, hidden temple just down the road from Neighbor Phuthon Hotel?

Western-style Thai Temples began in the reign of King Rama V, during which Western influences started to arrive in Siam. It is not surprising that Thai temples were also influenced by Western architecture.

Wat Ratcha Bophit was constructed in the early years of King Rama V’s reign as the symbolic temple of his era. The temple has a perfect layout, with a pagoda at the center, enclosed in a circular cloister, similar to that in the temple of King Rama IV.

Wat Ratchabophit is a five-minute walk from Neighbor Phuthon. Admission is free, and you‘re not likely to see many tourists—just local worshippers and the monks who call the temple home!

Location: Wat Ratchabophit, Fueang Nakhon Rd.
